"Several Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Biomedical Industry in Zhuhai" was reviewed and given green light at the executive meeting of the Zhuhai Municipal Government on July 19.

As an integral part of the emerging sectors and one of the six key industries in Zhuhai, Biomedicine secures a solid foundation and dislays a strong development momentum. It is specified in the "Opinions" that in a bid to fuel the growth of the biopharmaceutical sector in the next 3 to 5 years, the municipal treasury will appropriate an annual fund of no less than 20 million yuan to support the research and development in the relevant industrial sectors for five successive years, starting from 2011. The local treasury will also encourage in-house innovation by biomedical enterprises through specific grants. R & D subsidy will be given to category 1-3 medicines and category 3-2 medical devices that are registered as of 2010 and industrialized locally.
