1. Unique Strategic Location
As the gateway between South China and the rest of the world, Zhuhai sits 36 nautical miles from Hong Kong to the east and borders Macao on the south. It is the second largest port in China, with Gaolan (Deepwater) Port being one of the major hub harbours in South China. In 2009, the number of entries and exits going through immigration in Zhuhai reached 90 million person times, approximately 25% of the national total.

Zhuhai is the regional centre of the West PRD, one of the 3 most dynamic economic regions in China and also known as the "World's Factory", which accounts for over $310 billion or 10% of China's GDP. 

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to be built will turn Zhuhai into the one and only city connecting both Hong Kong and Macao to the Mainland China.

2. Immense Development Potential
Among the first 4 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in China, the Zhuhai SEZ was authorized in 1980. For the past 3 decades, the PRD has seen an economic upsurge at an annual rate of 13%. The Rapid growth and expansion of markets in China have embraced enormous business opportunities.

Compared to other cities in the PRD, Zhuhai enjoys the richest land resources. A clear regional industrial orientation has been formed. Emphasis is placed on the development of modern services and hi-tech industries in East Zhuhai (including the downtown area) while West Zhuhai encourages advanced manufacturing, port logistics, modern agriculture and eco-tourism based on its ample land resources. Currently, development of the "Big Four" - Gaolan Port Economic Development Zone, Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Aero Industrial Park and Fushan Industrial Park - is given top priority. Zhuhai also has a national Free Trade Zone.

3. Enticing Natural Environment
Zhuhai, a garden-like coastal city, is endowed with a harmonious ecological environment - mountains and rivers paralleling, land looking at the islands across the sea, amicable climate. It is the only city in China which was rated as one of the "Top 40 Tourist Cities in China" for its overall urban landscape. Among many other honours, Zhuhai has been named as the "National Garden City", the "National Environmental Protection Model City", one of the "Top 10 Most Livable Cities in China". Zhuhai, also known as the "City of A Hundred Islands" for the 146 islands it governs, is the No. 1 City in the Pearl River Delta in terms of marine area, number of islands and length of coastline.

The public green area per capita is 21.4 sqm and the forest for leisure tourism per capita is over 70 sqm. The rate of good air quality in this city reaches 100%, making Zhuhai one of the few cities which have successfully kept the balance between industries and environment.

4. Robust Industrial Foundation
The development in Zhuhai's economy, especially that in the manufacturing industry, has maintained a rapid yet healthy pace. The compound annual growth rate for industrial added value from 2003 to 2009 amounted to over 21%. The secondary industry featuring advanced manufacturing and the tertiary industry led by high added value services have taken shape. Key industrial clusters consist of electronic information manufacturing, home and electric appliances production, petrochemicals, aero, bio-medicine and medical devices, yacht, etc. Software, information technology outsourcing (ITO), business process outsourcing (BPO), logistics, creation and other service sectors are also promoted.

5. Business-friendly Environment
As a regional traffic hub, Zhuhai possesses a three-pronged transportation network linking itself with other areas in China via sea, land and air, which enables visitors from all over the world to reach Zhuhai very conveniently. Zhuhai has the highest density of airport network in Asia. Apart from the Zhuhai Airport, the four international airports in Macao, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are all within 2 hours' drive. Zhuhai is a major harbour city in South China, with Gaolan Port being one of the major hubs  along the Chinese coastline. Well-maintained highways extend in all directions and Zhuhai is within 2 hours' drive of most cities in the PRD. The Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is expected to be put into use in 2010 and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai (cargo) rail will commence operation in 2011. The construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge began in 2009 December. Upon completion, it will shorten the journey between Zhuhai and Hong Kong to about 30 minutes.

A full-fledged financial system is in place. There are currently over 50 financial institutions operating in Zhuhai, seven of which are foreign banks including Morgan Stanley, the Bank of East Asia and Standard Chartered.

Thanks to optic fibers and wireless telecommunication networks, broadband and other internet connections can be easily accessed.

Living in one of the earliest SEZs and being close to Hong Kong and Macao, people here are internationally and commercially aware.

Observing "Open, Fair and Just" business conduct, the Zhuhai government is equipped with a professional team who are familiar with international practices and value their career. They provide investors with comprehensive and efficient assistance by offering a "one-stop" service for investment projects submitted for approval.

6. A Distinct Human Capital Advantage
The educational and professional training system in Zhuhai is well-structured. So far, eight renowned universities or colleges including Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, and Jilin University have set up campuses in Zhuhai. There are also "three-in-one" bases of production, education and research that have been set up by Qinghua University, and Harbin Institute of Technology, etc, as well as 10 public laboratories established in colleges and research institutions. At the same time, the higher education institutions have tailored their courses and professional training programmes to meet the needs of the market. By 2009, the population of college students in Zhuhai had reached 99,000, ranking 2nd in the Guangdong Province. There are currently 16 vocational secondary schools training technical personnel for different enterprises in Zhuhai.

A host of preferential policies have been announced to attract more talented people to Zhuhai.

The labour cost in Zhuhai is very competitive, with an average wage which is lower than those in most large coastal cities.

7. Quality Life
Amenities are available everywhere in Zhuhai, a city which won the "International Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment" granted by the UN Habitat in 1998, and was selected as one of the "Top 10 Chinese Cities with the Greatest Sense of Happiness" in 2007. Dozens of shopping malls and supermarkets are scattering all over the city. Some of the household names in Zhuhai are Carrefour of France, Jusco of Japan, and CR Vanguard of Hong Kong. Six international standard golf courses are fully operational. You can also find 2 international schools, over 30 hotels of 3 to 5 stars and 2 large hot spring resorts in the city. Food would never be a problem because the restaurants here prepare a variety of Chinese and international cuisines, making Zhuhai a gourmet paradise. For example, over 20 Japanese restaurants have set up their business in Zhuhai.

Holder of the "National Hygienic City" award, Zhuhai has major medical care institutions including the No. 5 Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the Zhuhai Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, to name two. 

Zhuhai is also one of the cities with the best social security in China.
